The Original IrelandGenWeb was created in 1997 by Diana Hanson as part of the WorldGenWeb to fulfill a need to post Irish queries for genealogy. In September 1997 the county pages went up for adoption by county coordinators. Since then it has become an independent site and has grown to include the most complete online resource for Irish records, passenger lists, and resources. The Original IrelandGenWeb is also the offical host of the IrelandGenWeb-L-request@rootsweb.com mailing list, an unequaled source of Irish information and reference material. To subscribe, put only the word "subscribe" in the message text.This page shows the linear hierarchy of the Original IrelandGenWeb pages for Ireland, both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland with references to as many online resources (including the county pages of the New IrelandGenWeb WGW Project) as possible. Separate indexes are provided for some of the counties which comprise Ireland. The majority of this information for these pages was gathered by Diana Hanson during a recent trip to Ireland and through the contribution of many different people.
